high standards and low expectations

it's confusing when i have high standards but low expectations. i just had this realization today. my son, not surprisingly, knows more about 5th grade math than i do. he CAN do the work and understands the process, and little mistakes don't make him a dummy. /take chill pill. /wash down with glass of wine.
